About Italian Heritage Los Angeles

October is National Italian Heritage Month – a time to celebrate the many contributions of Italians to our culture and history. Our goal is to educate the public on the significant part Italians have played in shaping our world. We celebrate Italian Heritage Month in Los Angeles too!

"Los Angeles is a great city where Italian Americans have long added to our prosperity and success as one of the world's most diverse places. This month, we celebrate our Italian heritage individually and collectively. From culture to business, education to government, the contributions of Italian-Americans have made us strong," said Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti.

"Italian-Americans have helped shape, build and give character to the great city of Los Angeles in many, many ways large and small. One of our most interesting and idiosyncratic pieces of architecture, the Watts Towers, was built by Simon Rodia, an Italian immigrant," states Councilmember Tom LaBonge. "Today, some of our most popular shopping areas were created by another Italian-American, Rick Caruso. Would the Dodgers be as beloved if it weren't for Tommy LaSorda? I reserve my greatest praise and love for my own mentor, the late great John Ferraro. John presided with wisdom over the Los Angeles City Council during 17 years of growth and change. He is missed to this day."

A special thanks goes to Buca di Beppo for helping to make this site and our Italian celebration possible.
